A NEW hotel operating under one of the world’s biggest budget brands is set to open its doors in Cumbernauld on Monday (May 17).

The latest opening by the Ibis chain in Scotland will begin welcoming guests after its lease to management company AGO Hotels.

The property, based at the Auchenkilns Roundabout, has 57 bedrooms, with free wi-fi as standard.

AGO Hotels was launched in July as an alternative platform for hotel owners and operators, and specialises in the budget sector. It has signed a 25-year least for the Auchenkilns hotel.

Lionel Benjamin, co-founder of AGO Hotels, said: “Today is a huge day for the hospitality industry, which has been one of the worst hit sectors during the Covid pandemic. Now with the lifting of restrictions, we are so pleased to finally be opening the doors of the new ibis budget Glasgow Cumbernauld.

“Our teams across all of our hotels are raring to go, and we look forward to providing a comfortable and affordable setting in Glasgow for those traveling for work, enjoying a staycation or visiting friends and family.”

There are more than 600 ibis hotels in around 20 countries.
