Environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful has struck an agreement to provide climate emergency training to smaller businesses in Glasgow ahead of the COP26 summit to be held in the city later this year.

In partnership with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and with funding support from McDonald’s, Keep Scotland Beautiful is offering the accredited training to 20 small and medium-sized businesses across the city. In addition to funding the places for chamber members, McDonald’s UK has also committed to putting 30 of its own managers from Glasgow through the training.

“Few events in Glasgow’s history can match the significance of its hosting of the COP26 conference in November,” chamber chief executive Stuart Patrick said.

“Businesses in the city are looking to respond with their own sustainability programmes to help tackle climate change, and this initiative by Keep Scotland Beautiful and McDonald’s is exactly what is needed by our SMEs.”

Barry Fisher, chief executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, added:“We know that our training supports participants to expand their knowledge of the climate emergency, while also providing examples of the opportunity that businesses, particularly SMEs, have in providing solutions to tackle climate change.”
