C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 62 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 228.6p per kg and an average of 193p, while 63 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 262.3p and levelled at 217.8p. Twenty-four store, B&W bullocks sold to 167p and averaged 158.3p, while 21 store bulls peaked at 281p and levelled at 223p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1057 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £95 per head and 200p per kg to average 170.1p (-5.6p on the week).

There were also 269 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £100 for Texels and averaged £61.84, while light/export-type ewes peaked at £54.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £36.75.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 33 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 216p (no change), while 14 prime bullocks peaked at 248p, and levelled at 223p (+3p). A couple of prime bulls sold to 222p and averaged 193p (no comparison).

In the rough ring 67 beef cows sold to 175p and averaged 142p (+3p).

There were also 1418 prime hoggs that sold to £102.50 and 242.7p to average 183.5p (+10p).

A nice show of 545 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £139 for Texels and average £76, while light ewes peaked at £83 for Cheviots and levelled at £39.

The firm also sold 22 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 243.5p and an average of 211p, while 35 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 232.5p and levelled at 202.3p. A prime, dairy-bred bullock fetched 154p. Forty-nine prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 244.5p and averaged 200.4p, while 47 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 185.5p and levelled at 158.4p.

In the rough ring 114 beef cows sold to 225.5p and averaged 133p, while 322 dairy cows peaked at 154.5p and levelled at 100.3p. Twelve bulls sold to 182.5p and averaged 127.3p.

There were also 1944 prime hoggs forward that sold to £116.80 and 282p to average 187p.

A small show of 87 heavy cast ewes sold to £119.50 for Texels and averaged £74.43, while 63 light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £35.49.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 242.5p, while 3 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 248p and levelled at 223p. Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 157.5p and averaged 152.6p.

In the rough ring 44 beef cows averaged 127p and 82 dairy cows levelled at 99p. A couple of bulls averaged 115p.

The firm also sold 1654 prime hoggs to a top of £102.50 and 231.6p to average 182.9p (+8.1p).

The 255 heavy cast ewes sold to £143.50 for a Texel and averaged £69.84, while 242 light ewes peaked at £56.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £41.90.
