C&D AUCTION Marts Ltd sold 46 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 273p per kg and an average of 212.8p (+5.8p on the fortnight), while 52 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 303.4p and levelled at 228.5p (+1.4p). Twelve store, B&W bullocks sold to 169.8p and averaged 151.2p (no comparison), while 14 store bulls peaked at 235.9p and levelled at 214.3p (+23.1p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 263p and an average of 249.2p (+1.2p on the week), while 12 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230p and levelled at 216.8p (-2.4p). Twelve prime, B&W bullocks sold to 169.5p and averaged 150.1p (+4.5p).

In the rough ring 52 beef cows averaged 144p (-1.9p) and 24 dairy cows levelled at 115p (-2.2p).

The firm also sold 945 prime hoggs to a top of £106.50 per head and 210.3p per kg to average 178.9p (-14p), while 192 prime lambs peaked at £145.50 and 298.9p to level at 266.9p (+15.6p).

A good show of 315 heavy cast ewes averaged £88.47, while 149 light/export-type ewes levelled at £57.43.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 11 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 241p and an average of 231.6p.

In the rough ring 41 beef cows averaged 157p and 56 dairy cattle levelled at 117.7p.

There were also eight dairy cattle forward that sold to £2,080 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1221.

Wallets Marts sold 46 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £108 and 209.8p to average £83.70 and 168.9p (-31.5p), while 453 prime lambs peaked at £137 and 290.2p to level at £108.14 and 256.7p (-19p).

One-hundred-and-thirty heavy cast ewes averaged £81.10 and 32 light ewes levelled at £49.31.
