THE best of Scotland's fashion industry has been toasted for its achievements at the inaugural Heraldfashion.co.uk awards.

Leading model Eunice Olumide hosted last night's event at the Arta restaurant in the Merchant City, Glasgow, which began with a fashion show from sponsors Scotland Re:Designed and Debenhams.

Abandon Ship Apparel, which was founded in Glasgow in 2011, was one of the big winners on the night, taking home the Scottish Online Retailer of the Year award. The high-end Edinburgh-based designer boutique Jane Davidson won the Luxury Online Boutique of the Year award.

There was also a special exhibitors lounge area which showcased the work of new designers such as nicci.n and Mark Turnbull Jewellery.

Glasgow Caledonian University's School of Business and Society, Zero Waste Scotland and Love Your Clothes also sponsored the event and had representatives there to present awards. Judges included Chris Hunt from Genuine PR and fashion blogger Sheri Scott from Betty & Bee. Claire Stuart of Bee Waits for No-One was named Blogger of the Year, winning £300 worth of Debenhams vouchers as part of her prize.

Debenhams spokeswoman Eve Robertson said the retailer was proud to sponsor the awards. She added: "We have enjoyed being associated with a unique event which celebrates the very best in online fashion. Congratulations to all of the worthy winners and nominees and especially to Blogger of the Year Claire Stuart, who is a creative and influential communicator and a great ambassador."

Scotland Re:Designed sponsored the Best Fashion Twitterati award won by Scot Street Style. Cathy Owen, Scotland Re:Designed project manager, said: "Scot Street Style truly understands the power of social media and the role it plays in fashion and setting trends." The People's Choice Award was voted for by the public and was won by Common People Clothing. Over 180 votes were cast in 48 hours for the clothing brand, the clear favourite.
