Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag will dance the afternoon away in Glasgow on Sunday. 3 Hina Matsuri Japanese Spring Festival Kibble Palace, Glasgow, March 4

5 Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival Tower Mill, Hawick, today until March 6
The natural world will take centre stage when this creative festival arrives in Hawick today. The festival features screenings of films that relate to the nature, landscapes, alchemy and mankind’s interactions with natural forces. As well as feature length screenings, there will also be art projects and experimental short films on show.

6 Gin Festival The Briggait, Glasgow, March 3-5 Gin aficionados will raise a glass of the country’s finest tipples in Glasgow on Friday. Over 100 different gins will be on offer to sample during the three-day event. Producers will also be on hand to provide expert advice and masterclasses.

8 Mark Smith: Slugboy Saves The world!

9 Aberdeen Boat Race Aberdeen Boat a Club, Aberdeen, March 4 Aberdeen and Robert Gordon Universities will battle it out for glory in the boat race on Saturday. Now in its 22nd year, Aberdeen will face five-time reigning champions Robert Gordon crews on the gruelling 3.5km course on the River Dee. With both teams smashing the course record last year, this is one race that will be exciting all the way.
