This free exhibition is allowing visitors to experience the seven wonders of the world through the medium of LEGO. The exhibition, created by acclaimed LEGO artist Warren Elsmore and his team of highly-talented designers, focuses on pivotal moments and amazing sights from around the globe. It includes portrayals of scientific discoveries from the Big Bang Theory to DNA, and recent history from mobile phones to the moon landings.

There will be around 200 classes in nine different sections. Feel free to compare the exhibits with your own efforts and consider taking part next year.

  • Summer Foraging Courses, Glamis Castle, Angus, Tomorrow and Saturday

Looking for something different to do this weekend? Look no further. The course on the grounds of this stunning 14th century castle starts with a 20-minute introduction on how to forage safely and sustainably. This is followed by a slow walk around the grounds, identifying the different edible and poisonous plants, flowers, fruits and mushrooms. Homemade refreshments will be made available, including wild mushroom soup and elderflower champagne, followed by lunch at the pub.

  • The City of Perth Salute, Perth City Centre, Sunday

International artistes will join local bands in the parade at noon, from the South Inch to the North Inch, along Tay Street culminating in an arena performance. This breathtaking display of military choreography will include a 50-minute show featuring a selection of the centrepiece acts. Free to attend and no booking is required. Remember to take along bring along your own seating. After the performance, join organisers for boating on the Tay and other City Centre attractions.

  • One Night of Queen, King’s Theatre, Glasgow, Tomorrow

This spectacular live concert, recreating the look, sound, pomp and showmanship of arguably the greatest rock band of all time, is back for one night only to rock you. Gary Mullen takes centre stage as Freddie Mercury. The singer won ITV’s Stars In Their Eyes Live Grand Final, with the largest number of votes ever received in the show’s history where the record of 864,838 votes was more than twice that of the runner-up.

The eighth annual event returns to the Plainstones with lots to see, do and taste on the day. Headline acts are John McCruden and head chef Ed Blackhall from Pittodrie House Hotel. The Cannonbawz run will see 65 cars set off from the Lossie Wynd car park at 11am on an epic journey around the north of Scotland. A dedicated kids’ zone will be back, plus bungee trampolines and lots of other activities to keep the young ones entertained at Commerce Street. Finally, the giant street market will be as big and diverse as ever with bookings from food and craft stalls from all over Scotland. The day kicks off at 10am and winds down at 5pm.

In 2017, Fòcas Scotland marked the 70th anniversary of Indian independence by commissioning six artists from India and Scotland to make new work exploring what connects us in today’s world. Now, the artists have addressed what it is to be an individual in our highly networked, and global, societies. Their work reveals the diversity of stories that new artists tell through photography.
