Aberfeldy Farmers’ Market

This market, above, features produce and suppliers from all over the region, showcasing the best of Perthshire’s farm foods. The market has everything from fresh eggs and fresh meat, to handmade crafts and art, all coming from their suppliers who are “some of the best Perthshire food suppliers”. The market also has a range of other stalls, featuring handmade chocolate, cheese and fresh coffee. The market runs from May to October, so next weekend is your last chance to pop along, before it breaks until May next year, and discover what the farms of Perthshire have to offer.

Ayrshire Farmers’ Market

The organisers of the Ayrshire Farmers’ Market want to remind shoppers of the benefits of shopping at markets – not only do local businesses and the community benefit, but also the shoppers, by being able to talk directly with the producer you can ensure that the food you’re getting is of the highest standard. Set up in 2000, the market has a variety of stalls including meat, vegetables and cakes. Although it only takes place in Ayr on the first Saturday of every month, they have other markets in Paisley and Kilmarnock throughout the rest of the month. If you don’t manage to pop along next weekend, there’s still plenty of time to catch the market throughout the month.

Campbelltown Farmers’ Market

Campbelltown’s market is another which offers a wide variety of produce. The stalls vary during the year – which means you’ll be able to discover an even wider variety of produce every time you visit. The Campbelltown market has stalls such as Ifferdale Lamb, Ballywilline Beed and Little Gem Bakery along with a variety of other local craft stalls. Even though the market does take place outside, if the weather isn’t cooperating it moves inside – so you can visit the market regardless of the weather.

Park Lane Market

Setting up shop in 2017 in the southside of Glasgow is Park Lane market. On the first and last Sunday of every month they open their doors to traders selling everything from clothing to homemade bread. The lane opens out into a food and performance space where you can enjoy live performances from musicians and sample a variety of food stalls.

Edinburgh Farmers’ Market

This market takes place all year round on a Saturday. They have a variety of stalls, including produce such as organic beef and chicken along with seasonal fruit and vegetables. As well as the mix of food and drink, the market is home to different types of speciality produce such as clothing and knitwear. They publish the market layout every week ensuring you know in advance which stalls are going to be there. The market is overlooked by Edinburgh Castle and was listed by Lloyd Grossman as one of the world’s best farmers’ markets. So why not head along and see what all the fuss is about?
