A budget digital audio player that boasts some impressive features.
Our music listening habits firmly shifted in the last decade from compact discs to streaming media. This meant you no longer owned the songs you listened to and that the content could change from day to day depending on the relationship between artist and publisher.
This method also suited smartphone manufacturers who could then skimp on disk storage capacity. Removing the streaming shackles with a dedicated audio player like the FiiO M6 might be the way to go.
Good Points?
The device is extremely well made with a CNC aluminium machined chassis and a 3.2-inch touchscreen. The tiny 83-gram unit fits comfortably in hand without any strain and danger of dropping.
Being a dedicated audio player, the music playback quality is exceptional with equally rounded tones in all frequencies. The 2GB internal storage is mainly reserved for the operating system but with an SD card slot the device has the potential for 2TB worth of music.
Thanks to the Android based OS you can still access various streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer.
Bad points?
An SD card is not included so this additional purchase is required but still shouldn’t break the bank.
Best for ...
Those with a sizeable music collection, a smartphone low on free storage space and a bank account with even lower funds.
Avoid if ...
You are not old enough to remember CDs never mind have a collection.
