Now we're moving into August, the summer sun's still lingering but we will soon be full swing into Autumn. Then it'll be London Fashion Week too, so time to think about summer trends descending into autumn trends and styles. Here are my top ten favourite beauty and fashion releases this coming month...
PUMA collaborates with McQ
OK, I can't deny I'm a big fan of heels but when collaborations like this happen, I think I'll be investing in an extra pair of trainers. PUMA and McQ by Alexander McQueen are collaborating and its launch is just in time for Autumn/Winter 2014. McQ Creative Director Sarah Burton's vision for the collection draws inspiration from Alexander McQueen's fashion archive and merges it with PUMA's focus on innovation, through use of contemporary, performance-inspired materials. The collection features marbled prints and silhouettes inspired by human anatomy, such as tendons and rib cages, which create a cage-like effect. Styles include the McQ Run Mid, McQ Run Lo and prices range from £125-325.
Hand & Foot Stone Scrub by Kiko
Talking about trainers and flats, it's important to keep your feet in great condition especially if you are on them most of the day. The new products from KIKO Milano are ideal. There's the Hand & Foot Stone Scrub, which gently exfoliates and smoothes skin as the pumice paste removes dead skin cells; Intensive Hand Gloves and Intensive Foot Socks, to nourish the skin, soften the cuticles and prepare fingers and toenails for treatments; and Intensive Hand Balm, which contains aloe vera, shea butter and avocado oil to nourish and moisturise skin. Prices range from: £4.90-£5.90.
Philip B Rejuvenating Oil
If you've been spending time in the sun or dangerously bleaching your hair in the summer rays then its time to condition and when I say condition I mean a good deep conditioner. This rejuvenating oil from Philip B is just the thing. Sheer and light enough for all hair types, this deep treatment works wonders on parched, brittle strands. It is made from a fragrant, nourishing blend of plant, nut and flower oils. For 60ml it retails for £27.
Phenomen oil by Jessica
It's not just our hair that can go brittle and break - it's also our nails. Some women are blessed with healthy nails but for those that aren't (and those that are) you need to keep them moist. Jessica's Phenomen Oil Intensive Moisturiser will do just the job. Maintain healthy nails and cuticles with this intensely conditioning cuticle oil. It contains natural jojoba, almond and rice oils to heal and rehydrate. It retails for £9.50.
Picasso and Mondrian Inspired Collection
I personally love a good flat for daytime, especially if you work in a city and have lots of running around to do from meeting to meeting. I just love the new French Sole Picasso and Mondrian Inspired Collection. Make a statement with your flats and wear works of footwear art this season with the heroes of French Sole's "Warhol Darlings" Collection for AW14. Designed by French Sole founder Jane Winkworth, the classic ballerina shape is used with a true artist's palette and popping primary coloured suedes and detailed embroidery transform the wardrobe staple into a sartorial statement not to be ignored. The RRP for both is £180.
AMC Lip Paint by Inglot
For those of you who love a fab lipgloss you're going to love AMC Lip paint by Inglot. I was recently working on a shoot and the make-up artist used this most amazing product. This lip paint comes in a little pot and is a cream-gel consistency lip product. It provides good coverage, while biomimetic peptide stimulates collagen synthesis giving a long lasting ultra-shiny effect. It withstood the heat of intensely strong camera lights and looked gorgeous all day. Retails from £10.
John Smedley launches Childrenswear collection
If you're a mummy that loves to indulge in the odd designer piece for your little one you're going to love this new collection. British knitwear brand John Smedley has announced the launch of a new childrenswear capsule line. The four-piece range for boys and girls takes inspiration from the modern specialist knitwear presented to Her Majesty The Queen after her visit to the Lea Mills, Derbyshire factory with His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, during which gifts were presented for Prince George. The boys' collection features a crew neck sweater and two-button polo shirt whilst the girls' range consists of a fine merino wool cardigan and a crew neck cotton t-shirt. The collection starts from £75.
Délice de Poudre bronzer
When your summer tan is fading, it's always handy to have a compact bronzer in your bag. Cosmetic brand Bourjois has announced the launch of two new versions of its Délice de Poudre bronzer. The new Délice de Poudre Duo, offering a bronzing powder and highlighter, features a deep chocolate matte shade that provides the face with a natural tan while contouring, while the white chocolate illuminating shade instantly adds highlights to complexions, sculpting facial features. New Délice de Poudre Gold Bronzing Powder is designed for the cheekbones and décolleté, featuring subtle golden highlights and fine golden pearly extracts. Each version has the chocolate fragrance of the original. It retails for £7.99.
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics
Youngblood has introduced three new products to its range recently, but one I had to share was The Luminous Créme Blush in Luxe - a maroon-burgundy shade with a weightless formula that blends on the skin, providing the glow of a cream and a silkiness of a powder. If you love your blush and mineral make-up you'll love this product. Prices from £24.
Aubrey swimmers range
Throughout the summer months most of us - especially if you have kids - end up venturing to a swimming pool of sorts at some point. So don't forget the need to look after your hair. Aubrey has a range of swimmers' shampoo and conditioner, which is affordable and does the job perfectly. The products can be used on all hair types and have a ?¨pH neutraliser. It's a clean-rinsing formula which washes away build-up and impurities and normalises your hair's pH. Prevents discoloration of grey or blonde hair, and hair exposed to chlorine or salt water with a tantalising almond apricot scent. Price from £10.49.
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
