Legend has it, it was created in an Aberdeen chip shop and a new Glasgow restaurant will be offering diners the chance to try the 'delicacy' mixed with Scotland's other national drink.

Deep Fried Mars Bar, served with an Irn Bru sorbet and Chocolate Soil will be among the desserts on the menu at Beat 6, the new offering from the Six by Nico brand.

The restaurant opens today in Dennistoun, in Glasgow's east end with all profits donated to the Beatson Cancer Charity and the venue is already almost entirely booked out for the rest of the month.

The 34-cover eatery will offer a constantly rotating tasting menu that celebrates some of the most popular dishes the team have created in the Six by Nico kitchens including beef carpaccio with burger sauce, aged parmesan and pickled cucumber from the Circus menu.

The Herald:

Restaurateur Nico Simeone's wife said he wanted to give something back to the Beatson after his wife was treated for cancer at the world-leading centre and said he hopes to open more in the future.

He said: "Like many others, we hold a special place in our hearts for the Beatson.

"We hope that the proceeds from Beat 6 will benefit the charity and the staff to whom we owe so much, as well as provide our team with the opportunity to be a part of such an important cancer journey.

"We genuinely hope that this is the first of many Beat 6 restaurants that we will be able to open for them, and we will always be grateful for everything they do to help change the lives of those affected by cancer every day".
