LOTHIANS won the Group 1 title at the women's inter-regional
championships at Blairgowrie on Saturday, beating 1st West 17-3 in the
final. The Group 2 title went to Moray Firth, 18-3 winners over Central
in the final.
AUSTRALIA'S Chris Robertson, ranked No 6 in the world, will tonight
meet Brian Beeson, ranked 14, in the final of the Strathallan Dairies
Bridge of Allan Squash championships. In last night's semi-finals
Robertson defeated Martin Bodimede (England) by 9-3, 9-1, 9-3, while
Beeson knocked out Scotland's Mark Maclean 9-1, 9-6, 4-9, 9-2.
THE Singapore national team, touring Britain in preparation for the
world championships, inflicted a crushing 3-0 defeat on a Scottish
Select in Bridge of Allan yesterday. Peter Fairlie produced Scotland's
best performance when he took Simon Yang to five sets. Results:
Singapore 3, Scotland 0. (Zainal Abidin beat Costas Yarrow 9-1, 9-5,
9-2; Anthony Chua beat John McGhee 9-6, 9-1, 9-7; Simon Yang beat Peter
Fairlie 9-5, 9-10, 3-9, 9-0, 9-5).
