A JURY should today be asked to consider its verdict in the Ruth Neave murder trial. The naked body of her six-year-old son, Rikki, was found laid out in a star shape in woods near his home in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, in November 1994.
The trial at Northampton has run for 16 days. Ms Neave, 28, denies murder.

A CANOE circumnavigation of Britain was completed yesterday by Steve MacDonald, 24, from Catford, south-east London, who is blind. He had a sighted ex-SAS partner. His next planned charity venture, to finance guide dog training, is to cycle the length of Africa.

A CINEMA exhibition in Falkirk in January will pay tribute to comic actor James Finlayson, who had manic character roles in the Laurel and Hardy films. He was born in nearby Larbert.
Man for court
A 33-YEAR-OLD man is due to appear at Linlithgow Sheriff Court today in connection with the death of Alan Wood, 24, from Livingston. Mr Wood, who lived alone, was stabbed on Sunday outside Safeway at Carmondean, Livingston.
Dressed to kill
POLICE in Bromley, Kent, are seeking a knife-wielding off-licence raider. She is described as a leggy blonde of 18 in hotpants, baseball hat, and revealing halter top. A spokesman said: ``She may look lovely but she's obviously a dangerous woman.''
Bodyguard held
A PROFESSIONAL bodyguard yesterday appeared in court charged with the murder of terminally ill Jeremy Debonnaire, 45, who was found shot in his home near Maidstone, Kent, on October 18. Mr William Hammell, 35, of Rochester, Kent, was remanded in custody until November 4 by Maidstone magistrates.
Mugger guilty
SENTENCE was deferred to November 11 at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday on gaming machine addict Kevin McClurg, 19, of Skinnergate, Perth, who attacked an 85-year-old woman with such force to steal her bag, containing #8, that she had to spend nine weeks in hospital.
Torture sentence
ELIZABETH Dempster, 17, of London Road, Stranraer, was given 12 months detention at Stranraer Sheriff Court yesterday for handcuffing a young woman's arms and legs together and pouring food, shower gel, and hair mousse over her body, pinching her with pliers and repeatedly punched her on the head and body. Two other women involved have already been sentenced.
