Vandals are wreaking havoc at Stirling University by throwing valuable sculptures and works of art into Loch Airthrey, within the campus.

A collection of 12 exhibits has been targeted since it went on show in October last year, and two works have been withdrawn from the #25,000 Scottish Sculpture Open Exhibition because of damage. The spate of incidents, including statues being rolled 50 yards down a hillside and abandoned on the muddy loch shore, have angered organisers and artists.

But university officials responsible for security on 300-acre campus said the acts were little more than ''high spirits'' and hardly constituted vandalism.
