Artur Pizarro is a poet among pianists. His playing can sing. He can trace the finest of melodic lines with a purity that will catch your breath. He can colour a harmony with the subtlest of shades. He has sensitivity and power in rare balance. Tomorrow, in one of the most intriguing partnerships of the season, he joins conductor Sir Charles Mackerras in Beethoven's most lyrical piano concerto, the Fourth. The mighty Sir Charles will also have a brace of Mozart symphonies up his sleeve (numbers 31 and 36). The SCO will play as only they can. Enough said?
