GORDON DALZIEL , the Raith Rovers manager, last night signed Paul McMullan, a 20-year-old former Hearts and Inverness wing-back who will make his debut in today's cup tie with Alloa Athletic. McMullan was released by Inverness recently and Dalziel has secured his services to the end of the season.

Alloa, meanwhile, added Ian Ross, the midfielder who had been released by Partick Thistle, to the signing earlier in the week of Jose Quitongo, former Hearts, St Mirren and Hamilton Accies winger.

Ross had trained with Raith Rovers on Thursday.

Brechin's new manager, Ian Campbell, made his first signing since taking over from his brother by bringing in Stuart Callaghan from Alloa, although he is cuptied and cannot play against Berwick Rangers today.

Berwick have signed the midfielders Gary Greenhill and Ian McSween on loan from Dunfermline and Falkirk respectively.

Clyde were seeking to complete a deal to bring in Alex Burns from Motherwell and he should be available for the cup tie with Falkirk, while Neil Watt, the Stranraer manager, was looking for a goalkeeper, as Andy McCondichie is injured and Celtic do not want their on-loan youngster, Michael McGovern, cup-tied.

Jim Thomson will make his 200th appearance in a Queen of the South jersey against Montrose.
