MOSCOW: Construction workers have unearthed human bones near the

former Moscow home of Stalin's secret police chief Lavrenty Beria.

Skulls, pelvises and leg bones were discovered by workers installing

streetlights near the mansion once used by Beria. Vladimir Zharov, head

of the criminal forensics bureau, said a torture chamber existed in the

basement of Beria's house and that there probably was an underground

passage to the burial site.
