A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a Glasgow district

councillor, it was confirmed yesterday. The action was raised at

Stonehaven Sheriff Court on February 25 against Mr Kenneth Gibson, the

Scottish Nationalist councillor for Mosspark, Glasgow. A spokesman in

the procurator-fiscal's department in Stonehaven confirmed that a

warrant had been issued following Mr Gibson's failure to appear for

trial in connection with an alleged offence under the Representation of

the People Act.

At the City Chambers in Glasgow, an official said that the councillor

had attended the monthly meeting of the district council on Thursday as

normal. Mr Gibson, elected to the local authority last May, was

yesterday unavailable for comment as he was attending his sister's

wedding.
