DETECTIVES seeking the killer of a man found battered to death in
Renton, Alexandria, on Tuesday are convinced that the key to the murder
lies in the local community. Mr Richard Beattie, 32, a drug user, of
Vale of Leven, was found in a lane off John Street, Renton.
Mr Beattie had been named as a witness in the trial of four men
accused of the murder of another local man. However Detective Chief
Inspector Robert Fraser, who is in charge of the hunt for Mr Beattie's
killer, said yesterday that this was only one line of inquiry at which
he and his team were looking.
