LOU Macari, sacked by Celtic in the summer, was yesterday reappointed

manager of Stoke and vowed to restore passion and spirit at the Victoria

Ground.

Macari takes over from caretaker manager Asa Hartford, who has been

appointed his assistant, and accepts he faces a more difficult task

second time around.

He said: ''I enjoyed two great years at Stoke and I know what the club

is all about. I think I know what is required to improve things, but it

certainly won't be easy.''

Macari has been given money to spend on new signings and could move

into the transfer market before Sunday's game with West Brom.
