O’NEILL — WILLIAM (BILL). Sadly, suddenly, but appropriately in the mountains above Pitlochry, accompanied by his loving Fran and other walking friends, on Sunday 23rd March, 2014. Bill, medic, mountaineer, philosopher, joker, will be laid to rest in Ireland, following Mass in St Bride’s Church, West Kilbride, on 28th March, at 10am. Family flowers only, donations after service to Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance if desired. Thanks to above and Police Scotland.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
