The secretary of a Celtic supporters club has been spoken to by police after posting sectarian jokes on Twitter.

Joe O'Rourke, general secretary of the Celtic Supporters Association, was contacted by officers to warn him about his conduct last week.

Mr O'Rourke, 61, of Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, sparked a row when he tweeted jokes about the doomed cruise liner the Titanic, saying that it was a "problem" that the Protestant workers who built it didn't sail on it.

The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912 with the loss of 1514 lives.

Police, who are cracking down on online sectarianism, have launched several investigations over bigoted comments being posted.
