Major traffic delays are expected after a lorry fire closed the A9 in both directions.

It has been shut at a bridge about half a mile south of the Slochd summit in the Highlands.

The old A9, which runs underneath the bridge, was also closed after the fire overnight, Northern Constabulary said.

Lengthy diversions have been put in place via Grantown-on-Spey.

The A9, which connects Perth and Inverness, is not expected to re-open until at least 10am.
