A MAN faces a life sentence after being convicted of raping five women and sexually abusing a sixth.

Jonathon Mallon, 32, sat weeping in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow after he was found guilty of the campaign of terror which took place over a 14-year period.

Mallon raped one of his victims in a cinema toilet and another in a changing cubicle at a busy swimming pool .

Judge Bill Dunlop QC told Mallon: "Well may you weep. I hope your tears are for the women whose lives you have ruined."

Judge Dunlop ordered an assessment to bet carried out into the risk Mallon poses to the public and said he is considering an order for lifelong restriction .

The judge told Mallon: "You have been convicted of a cruel, vicious and sometimes perverse course of conduct against six different women."

Mallon was placed on the sex offenders register.

Mallon was convicted of the rapes, sexual abuse and domestic abuse after a lengthy trial.

His rape victims are now aged 21, 25, 26, 31, 31, and his sex abuse victim is 27. All his victims were vulnerable.

Prosecutor Kath Harper told the court that Mallon has previous convictions for domestic abuse, violence, carrying a knife and fireraising.

As Mallon was led away to the cells he shouted at his 26-year-old victim who was sitting in the public benches saying: "I hope you are f****** happy now."

The woman fled from the court in tears.

Mallon, a keen churchgoer, met two of his victims at church, another he chatted up on a bus and the other he met at parties.

Mallon was described by one of his former girlfriends, who is 26, as Jekyll and Hyde character.

He was charming and kind until he got each women under his spell and then his nasty side would come out.

She told the court how he pestered her for sex when she had become pregnant again after a miscarriage.

He will be sentenced at a later date..
