TWO injured crew aboard a super yacht have been rushed to hospital in the Outer Hebrides.

The 139-feet long American-registered yacht The Rebecca went aground in West Loch Tarbert on Harris.

But in doing so, two of the five crew were injured - one suffering a head wound, the other a slashed wrist.

The alarm was raised at 5.55pm yesterday and Tarbert Coastguard Rescue Team stood by as the injured crewmen were put ashore to a waiting ambulance to take them to the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway. Their condition is unknown.

Meanwhile the 15-year-old ketch - one of the longest of its type - was refloated and made its way to Tarbert to assess damage. It is believed it has sailed the Atlantic.
