TRAMS chiefs are to instruct officials to put a price tag on blueprints for extending the controversial system in the Scottish capital.

A number of options including the original route to Newhaven past Leith in the north of the city are to go before Edinburgh City Council on December 11.

The council is expected to ask its officials to compilespecific costings for the projects that include the Granton spur.

A council spokeswoman said: "A report will be put before councillors in December that will set out options for future public transport investment in Edinburgh."
