A POLICE investigation is under way into claims of a paedophile ring involving a senior Scottish lawyer and a former Solicitor General for Scotland.

Robert Henderson QC and Tory MP Sir Nicholas Fairbairn, both now deceased, have been accused of sexually assaulting Mr Henderson's daughter, Susie, from the age of four.

Miss Henderson, who waived her right to anonymity, claims she was systematically abused by the men and other senior figures in the Scottish establishment.

Another alleged victim is now reported to have come forward and it is understood detectives are also considering serious allegations against three living prominent lawyers. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said she could "confirm that a live investigation is ongoing" but "it would be inappropriate to comment further".

She added: "Anyone with information on child sexual abuse is asked to contact Police Scotland."

Miss Henderson, 49, claims she was raped by her father and Sir Nicholas, a key Margaret Thatcher aide, several times at her family home.

She also alleges that Mr Henderson took her to homes of other establishment figures and allowed them to sexually abuse her.

Mr Henderson, who was never charged, died aged 75 in 2012, while Sir Nicholas died in 1995 at the age of 61.
