An investigation has been launched after a man's body was found in a city centre lane in Glasgow.

Police were called to Wellington Lane, near to West Campbell Street, at around 6.30am on Tuesday.

It is understood a commuter found the body.

Police said the death was not being treated as "suspicious" but a full investigation was underway.

A spokesman said: "Police were called to a report of a man lying unconscious in Wellington Lane, in Glasgow city centre, at around 6.30am.

"The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
