A MAN has died after being hit by a train in an incident at Bishopbriggs train station which led to major disruption to rail services to and from Glasgow Queen Street.
British Transport Police and paramedics were called to the incident at around 4pm.
ScotRail said services between Queen Street and Edinburgh, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunblane and Alloa were affected.
It had warned the disruption could last until 8pm, but low level trains from Queen Street are running as normal.

British Transport Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Officers will now look to identify the man and inform his family of his death.
A file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal. Scotrail later said services from Glasgow to Stirling via Croy have resumed, but trains were not calling at Bishopbriggs.
ScotRail said train tickets could be used on First Glasgow buses operating on the same route.
One witness said there had been a white sheet on the tracks.
Strathkelvin and Bearsden MSP Fiona McLeod told how she saw police walking along the track as they dealt with the incident.
She said on Facebook: "There is an 'on-going incident being dealt with by emergency services'.... I am currently on a train stopped at the incident and can see police officers walking along the track.
"I have been in contact with Scotrail, but there is little information they can share at the moment, but trains 'may' be disrupted until 8pm tonight and are currently being diverted on other routes and a replacement bus service is in operation..."
