Star of stage and screen Frank Finlay has died aged 89.

Finlay, who passed away earlier today, starred as Porthos in the Three Musketeer films released during the 1970s alongside Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain and Michael York.

He also starred in television series Bouquet Of Barbed Wire alongside Susan Penhaligon.

He was the lead in Dennis Potter’s serial Casanova, and starred in Shaft In Africa.

He was awarded a CBE gong in 1984.

He was married to wife Doreen Shepherd, who died in 2005, for 50 years and they had three children

Details of the cause of his death have not yet been released.
