REVELLERS who saw a young man stabbed during a house party brawl hold vital clues about his attacker, police believe.

As reported in late editions of yesterday's Evening Times, a thug knifed the 23-year-old after a violent row spilled out onto the street in the Foxbar area of Paisley.

Around 10 yobs - both men and women - were involved in the bust-up.

Detectives have appealed to them directly and urged them to tell police what happened.

Horrified neighbours in Heriot Way raised the alarm at around 10.30pm on Sunday and emergency services raced to the scene.

Detective Constable Laura Watt, from Paisley CID, said: "So far the response from people from the party as to what happened has been quite poor.

"They are more than likely know each other so I can accept that some may be reluctant to come forward."

DC Watt also believes a dog walker may hold vital clues about the stabbing.

She added: "Our inquiries are at an early stage.

"However, what we understand happened is that there was a party in one of the homes in Heriot Way during which there was an altercation between a number of people, both men and women, within.

"This then spilled into the street and on to the grass area next to Heriot Primary School. This is where the man was stabbed.

"At the moment, officers are checking CCTV and doing house to house to get more information.

"There has been a report that a woman, walking her dog in the area, said to neighbours that she had witnessed the stabbing.

"She has not come forward.

"I would appeal to her to get in contact with police as soon as she can as her information could prove vital to our inquiry."

The victim was rushed by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

He received treatment for stab wounds and was later released.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
