A body has been found by a member of the public on a famous beach on the shores of the Moray Firth.

Police said that following a report from the person who made the grim discovery this morning , the body was recovered from the shoreline at Nairn Beach.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Following a report from a member of the public this morning, a body has been recovered from the shoreline at Nairn Beach.

“Police are contacting the next of kin of all current missing people. A further update will be issued when formal identification is complete.”
