GLASGOW MP Natalie McGarry and City councillor David Meikle tied the knot at the weekend.

Ms McGarry tweeted pictures of the happy couple at the ceremony on Saturday.

The independent (former SNP) MP for Glasgow East and Conservative councillor for Pollokshields announced their engagement last year after she was elected to Westminster.

Ms McGarry, from Inverkeithing, in Fife, posted pictures of the couple signing the register and later celebrating with friends and family at a reception in the shadow of the Forth Bridge.

The couple were congratulated by friends including SNP MPs and independence campaigners on social media.

MPs Peter Grant, Calumn Kerr and Drew Hendry were among those wishing the couple well.
