BIFFY Clyro treated fans to an intimate performance in HMV, showcasing their seventh album Ellipsis.

Hundreds turned out for the sell-out gig in Argyle Street tonight, which saw Simon Neil and James and Ben Johnston take to the stage.

Citing influences as diverse as Tears For Fears’ ‘Songs From The Big Chair’ album, DJ Arca and Deafheaven, Simon has described ‘Ellipsis’ as “more of a punch to the nose than a big cuddle.”

The Herald:

He said they “just picked the best songs” for the album.

“We weren’t worried about making it a complete piece of music,” he added.

“I think we wanted to liberate ourselves from feeling that every song we do has to be a rock song, and it was quite nice to embrace different elements in the studio.”

The band will cap this summer by headlining the Reading and Leeds festivals and having a massive homecoming show at Bellahouston Park on August 27.
