Several homes were evacuated after a fire broke out at a derelict hotel in Perth.

Fire crews were called to the White Horse Inn in North William Street in the city at around 4.40am on Saturday.

The fire ripped through the ground floor of the property before spreading to the roof, and threatening adjoining properties.

No one was injured in the blaze, according to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The cause was being investigated.

The unoccupied White Horse Inn was badly damaged in 2013 after a previous fire there.
