SCOTTISH FA compliance officer Tony McGlennan is weighing up whether to take action against Hearts playmaker Jamie Walker following Sunday’s controversial penalty incident.
McGlennan is planning to review footage of the 36th minute talking point before deciding if there is enough evidence to charge Walker with a breach of Disciplinary Rule 201, ‘causing a match official to make an incorrect decision by committing an act of simulation’.
Celtic captain Scott Brown branded Walker a ‘cheat’ and claimed he dived after the 23-year-old earned his side a first half spot-kick following a challenge from Hoops defender Kieran Tierney.
Walker converted from 12 yards to cancel out James Forrest’s opener before Scott Sinclair marked his Celtic debut with a second half winner.
According to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, referee John Beaton even admitted to making a "mistake" over the penalty decision.
McGlennan has until 3pm today to take action and will offer a fixed two-match suspension if he deems that Walker did dive.
Speaking about the incident after the match, Hearts playmaker Walker said: “l felt contact. I knocked the ball on and I saw him coming out the corner of my eye and felt contact, so went down.”
