MOUSSA DEMBELE last night insisted no team in Scotland was good enough to beat Celtic which is why his club are on course to win a treble.

The Frenchman’s comments could be viewed as being cocky and presumptuous; however, after the Betfred League Cup was secured on Sunday, and with the Ladbrokes Premier League title already all-but in Celtic’s hands for a sixth successive time, only the Scottish Cup is required for a clean sweep.

The manner in which Dembele and his team-mates took apart Aberdeen, the country’s second best team, with so much ease at Hampden does suggest that Brendan Rodgers’s side are as close to unbeatable as it possible to be.

It is inconceivable to say Celtic will through an entire domestic season without losing - a draw in Inverness has been the one slip-up so far – but by the same token it’s hard to see who can mount a serious challenge even over 90 minutes given how far ahead the Parkhead club are on and off the park.

“Do I think we can win the other two trophies? Yes, I think we can,” said Dembele whose penalty at Hampden gave him his 17th goal of the season.

“We’re in a strong position. When you beat a team like Aberdeen 3-0 in the final, it showed that we are the contenders and when we play like this no-one in the country can beat us.

“I want that winning feeling. I’m a winner, my team-mates are winners and we want to win every game. So if we keep playing like this and keep showing that we are hungry, I think no-one can beat us.

“We just have to keep going and keep working hard in training. It is important to celebrate success and that is what we will do. But after this we will keep working because the season is not finished yet. We’ve got one trophy but there are two more to come and we will do everything to win them.”

Dembele has been a revelation since his £500,000 summer move from Fulham, a deal which is surely to go down as one of the best ever in Scottish football.

The 20-year-old could have stayed in England, Tottenham led the clubs who wanted him, but choose Celtic and the chance of regular football, the Champions League and winning silverware.

“I came here to win trophies and it feels great to have one already,” said Dembele. “I’m just happy to be here. I knew when I came to Celtic that the first target was to get a trophy and that’s what we’ve done.

“Of course when you play as well as we have played you want a reward and this was our reward for the first four or five months we’ve been working together. If we keep in this way there is a lot more to come.”

Dembele claimed not to be surprised by any of his success, as he always believed this would happen when he chose to become a Celtic player.

“When I came I wanted to score in every game and beat every team, even in the Champions League,” said. “So it’s nothing more than I expected. I expected to do my best and that’s what I’ve done so far.

“I’m confident even in bad moments but on Sunday we are in a good mood, we keep winning games and I keep scoring goals. So we have to enjoy it and keep working hard for it to continue.”
