THE TRUMP Organisation will go ahead with the expansion of its Aberdeenshire golf complex despite a pledge to shelve foreign deals for the duration of Donald Trump’s presidency.

Last Wednesday Trump held his first press conference since he was elected to the Presidency. Following that the he said he would transfer control of his assets to his two sons to avoid conflicts of interest, and his tax lawyer said the company would make “no new foreign deals whatsoever” during his tenure.

Aberdeenshire Council recently approved plans to expand the Trump International Golf Course Scotland and is processing a live planning application for a second golf course.

The Trump Organisation said the Aberdeenshire plans do not fall under the scope of the moratorium as it is not a new foreign deal.

A spokeswoman said: “Implementing future phasing of existing properties does not constitute a new transaction so we intend to proceed.”
