Campaigners claim cannabis can be used to treat the following ailments:
Relief for conditions such as nerve damage and pain spinal cord injuries
The eye disease glaucoma – by decreasing the pressure inside the eye
Help control epileptic seizures – by binding to the brain cells responsible for regulating relaxation
Help control both muscle stiffness and spasms
Ease nausea and vomiting
Control debilitating muscle spasms and stiffness, which often interfere with sleep
Ease the need for medication and surgery for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease
Cannabidiol (which does not have a psychoactive effect), has been shown to interfere with cellular communication in cancer tumours as well as instigate apoptosis - programmed cancer cell death
