New show for designers

DESIGN Exhibition Scotland has been established to “raise the visibility of Scotland’s exceptional designers within Scotland and internationally”.

It will run from May 12-15 at the Edinburgh base of auctioneers Lyon & Turnbull.

The exhibition will showcase the work of around 20 designers and artists working in a range of materials and styles.

There will be debates on May 14 will bring “together key national and international designers, makers and thinkers.”

The show includes artists such as Claire Barclay, Andrew Miller, James McLardy and Rachel Adams, as well as designers and innovators.

The exhibition and talks are free.

New York’s Les Mis on tour

THE Broadway production of Les Miserables is to tour the UK, including dates in Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre, next year.

It will play from January 22 – February 16 2019.

Cameron Mackintosh said: “Since I first conceived the new production of Les Misérables to celebrate the shows 25th anniversary in 2009, this production has taken the world by storm. I am thrilled that modern audiences have embraced this production.”

Industry chiefs at author event

CREATIVE Scotland is holding an event to ask how “authors fit into today’s publishing landscape”.

Future Proof will take place on March 12 at the Grassmarket Project in Edinburgh.

Authors will be able to listen to panels, talks and discussions and meet a series of industry professionals.

Speakers will include Marion Sinclair of Publishing Scotland, Davinder Bedi of Booksource, and Laura Jones of 404 Ink, among others.
