Scottish Water has decided to review a planning application for controversial changes to a water treatment plant in the Highlands.
The company had proposed using an ultra-violet filtration system on sewage for only five months of the year.
Outside of this, sewage would be treated in settling tanks before being discharged into Loch Gairloch.
However, local campaigners said this was a cost-cutting exercise and should be used for the entirety for the year.
Scottish Water have now said it would review the application, saying it had not addressed all the issues raised sufficiently and would "seek to establish a closer and more constructive dialogue with local stakeholders".
The move was welcomed by Environment Secretary Roseanna Cunningham and local MSPs.
