Renewables push with hire at law firm

ANDERSON Strathern has hired renewable energy industry stalwart Alan Simpson as a consultant.
He joins from law firm Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie where he was a partner, arriving at Anderson Strathern as its energy sector group steps up advisory activity in 2018. 
With a background in commercial property, Mr Simpson brings 15 years’ experience in renewable energy projects across Scotland and the UK, from onshore wind and hydro to solar and tidal. Alongside his energy credentials, Mr Simpson has worked in the international renewables industry, particularly in Germany and China. 
The firm has worked on a number of high-profile renewable projects over the last twelve months, including helping the Crown Estate (Scotland) to unlock a series of offshore development opportunities and acting for Elgin Energy which has built Scotland’s largest solar park at Errol.

Employment law veteran lands new role

Alan Delaney has joined law firm Morton Fraser as a legal director in its employment law team. 
Mr Delaney joins from law firm Dentons and is the second legal director to be appointed by Morton Fraser this year.
His appointment takes the number of accredited employment specialists in Morton Fraser’s employment law team to eight. The team has increased turnover by a third in the last year and is continuing to expand as a result of a growing need for expertise in the sector.
In his new role, Mr Delaney will provide advice to both employer and senior executive employee clients on a wide range of employment issues.

Mr Delaney added: “I have been watching Morton Fraser with real interest over the past few years and have been very impressed."

Partner promotion brings cheer to BTO

Law firm BTO Solicitors has promoted Jennifer Whitelaw to partner.
As part of BTO’s commercial property team, Ms Whitelaw has more than 22 years’ experience of development and residential conveyancing. She acts for clients including housebuilders, social landlords, and charities.
