SCOTLAND was rocking this weekend as music festivals kicked off in both Glasgow and Dumfries, including the high profile TRNSMT at Glasgow Green.
Temperatures soared as thousands of revellers headed out to enjoy festivities, including the first ever Fiesta X FOLD event in Kelvingrove Park. In Dumfries, tens of thousands of people attended Scotland’s biggest free music festival, Youth Beatz, at Park Farm.
Liam Gallagher headlined TRNSMT last night, and music fans are looking forward to the Arctic Monkeys tonight.
Festival-goers were in for an added treat as Scotland’s heatwave continued – temperatures have hovered around 30 degrees Celsius at its hottest in Glasgow for most of the last week - and festival director Geoff Ellis said yesterday: “Fans have been enjoying the sunshine and from start to finish, today’s line up is, in the words of Gerry Cinnamon – a belter!”
The Fiesta X FOLD weekend festival brought names including Nile Rodgers, Earth Wind and Fire, De La Soul, the Pointer Sisters and Nile and CHIC. Parts of Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow’s west end were transformed in order to host the event.
Over in Dundee, Youth Beatz – now in its 10th year – had acts including Sigala, Jax Jones, Rudimental and Maggie Lindemann. Organisers said all of the 40,000 tickets available for the event had been snapped up.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the first night of TRNSMT, music fans saw The Stereophonics, Jessie J, Kodaline, The Script, James Bay and Tom Walker.
