A man has been arrested in connection with the death of young mother Tracey Wylde in Glasgow more than 20 years ago.

Police Scotland said a 43-year-old would appear in court today in respect of one of the great unsolved Scottish cases of the 1990s.

Twenty-one-year-old Ms Wylde was found dead in her flat in November 1997.

A heroin addict, Ms Wylde was one of several sex workers to die in the last decade of the 20th century sparking widespread public concern about their safety.

Police Scotland: "Tracey's family has been informed of this development and officers continue to liaise closely with her family."

The 43-year-old will likely appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday. His arrest comes after the arrest of a 37-year-old man in Mumbai, India, more than three years ago, also in connection with the case. Extradition proceedings are under way.
