ABERDEEN have completed the double signing of Watford centre-back Tommie Hoban and former Partick Thistle goalkeeper Tomas Cerny.

Hoban has signed a one-year loan deal at Pittodrie and could make his debut in tomorrow night's Europa League qualifying clash with Burnley.

He becomes Derek McInnes' fifth signing of the summer for the Reds and the manager was relieved to get a deal over the line.

“Tommie is a player we had last week and thankfully we managed to get the deal resurrected," he told Red TV.

“First and foremost he’s an excellent defender and it’s well known that we’ve been in the market for another defender and to get a player of his quality from Watford is a great piece of business. Although he can play anywhere in the defence, centre back is his preferred position.”

Cerny put pen to paper on a one-year deal in the North-East after leaving the Jags following their relegation from the Premiership at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old spent three seasons at Firhill and has made almost 200 top-flight appearances in Scotland during spells with Thistle and Hamilton Accies.
