A retired man and his wife from Kincardineshire have won £58 million on National Lottery.

The couple who are believed to be from the Mearns area had matched all five numbers correctly.  it is believed the woman works in Montrose.

It ranks 14th in the list of biggest National Lottery wins.

The National Lottery said last week that a British ticket holder had won the prize.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at The National Lottery, said at the time: “Wow, what an amazing win for one lucky UK ticket-holder."

“This win ranks at number fourteen in the list of the biggest ever National Lottery winners and we look forward to helping them begin to enjoy their win.”

According to the Sunday Times Rich List 2018, the EuroMillions winners are  richer than former One Direction singer Harry Styles who is worth £50 million  and Paul Pogba, who is worth an estimated £25 million.

It is understood the identity of the winner will be made public at an event organised by Camelot on Thursday.
