TRAIN services out of Glasgow Central are set to be disrupted until Thursday evening after a tractor crashed onto a set of tracks.
Damage has been caused to the railway infrastructure, including the overhead electric wires, at Fitzwilliam, West Yorkshire, and is causing disruption to trains through Wakefield Westgate.
The route affected includes CrossCountry services between Leeds and Reading / Plymouth and between Glasgow Central and Birmingham New Street.
Network Rail, the fire service and a specialist recovery service managed to remove the tractor from the line after the incident in Wednesday.
Some diesel trains are now able to run through Wakefield Westgate, however, lines will remain blocked for electric trains while Network Rail carries out repair works to the overhead lines.
The Network Rail team said it expects all lines to be open and trains able to run as normal from 6pm.
Passengers affected may be entitled to compensation if they have experienced a delay in completing their journey today.
Customers are reminded to keep their train ticket and make a note of their journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
