BRITISH travellers will not require a visa to visit the European Union in the event of a no-deal Brexit, according to the European Commission.

The Commission recommended on Tuesday that the UK be put on a visa-exempt list regardless of the outcome of negotiations.

The decision is still to be officially confirmed by member states, however the Commission stated that: “The European Commission has proposed to the EU legislator to exempt UK nationals from visa requirements for short-term stays”.

Sources have said that this settlement may require a reciprocal agreement.

The EU is responsible for putting all countries on a visa exempt or visa required list.

Even without the requirements for a visa, Brexit may still result in British travellers requiring advanced electronic travel authorisation.
