Celtic fans are planning to pay tribute to a 10-month-old baby who tragically lost her battle against a rare disease. 

In support of the family of Beibhínn who passed away last week, Celtic fans are encouraging supporters to release a balloon in her memory during the Airdrie clash this weekend.

Lisa Miller, a friend of the tot's parents, Kevin and Carla took to social media to rally up support for the family at this difficult time.

She said: "My friends Kevin & Carla sadly lost their beautiful baby girl Beibhínn this week.

"The family are huge Celtic supporters & in tribute, fans attending Airdrie game on 19th are asked to release a green balloon in 1st minute. Please support this."

The planned release during the first minute of the Scottish Cup game at Parkhead on Saturday will be followed by singing of You'll Never Walk Alone in tribute to the tot and her family.

Beibhínn died on January 8 after an eight-month battle with a rare cellular condition Mitochondrial Disease.

As Beibhínn's dad Kevin Hegarty, from Strabane in North Ireland, has been a Hoops fan his whole life, in support of the family, fellow fans are keen to show support and spread awareness of the disease which took the life of the baby.

Airdrie fans have also been ecouraged to release a balloon in tribute.
