A woman has been killed after being hit by a car in Giffnock.
The 21-year-old was crossing Ayr Road near Woodvale Avenue at 7.35am when she was hit by a silver-coloured car.
She was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she later died.
The driver of the car was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the incident.
The road was closed for several hours while emergency services attended the scene.
Now police are appealing for witnesses.
Sergeant Andrew Mair said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident. People may have been making their way to work or heading out for the papers and I would ask them to contact us if they have any information.”
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers at Road Policing Unit at Helen Street via 101, quoting incident number 0531 of Friday 18 January 2019.
